Linear Knob Control

Please forgive me if I missed it, but having the ability to control the knobs linearly as opposed to circularly would be great.

Thanks!

Re: Linear Knob Control

Thank you for your feedback.
Knobs are controlled circularly because of touch screen usage (see manual). When you use your finger to "turn" a knob, a linear movement is non ergonomic.

Re: Linear Knob Control

Are that many of your users using touchscreens?
What about an option for those who use mice?  (Circular movement on a mouse is non-ergonomic.)

Thanks!

Re: Linear Knob Control

wow. I was about to purchase this software until I saw this post. circular control with a mouse is absolutely unusable and very non-ergonomic. and then to see a reply that seems to  that all users will be using touch-screens doesn't give me the feeling that you are actually listening to your users.

unfortunately I will not be purchasing this software until linear control is added. if ever...

dissapointed...

Re: Linear Knob Control

Sorry, you mistake.
The previous post did not  that every user has a touch screen, it explained why the actual version as a circular movement.
There are already VST's on the market that handle circular movements on rotary knobs and that does not seem to hurt users very much.
If linear movement is a popular request, it will be taken in account in future releases.

Re: Linear Knob Control

Hi Holografique,

While I am also slightly annoyed that the author is seemingly unwilling to implement linear control, I have to say Xplorer is one of the best software purchases I have made.  It has not only renewed my interest in the Xpander, but analog synthesis as a whole.  i highly suggest you take another look.  Hopefully, the author will come around in the meantime.  wink

Re: Linear Knob Control

Agreed about the best purchase i have made in quite some time.
Any plans/possibility of implementing MULTI functionality as well?
For now I am using Soundquest/midiquest as editor for the multis and xplorer for the individual sounds.

Re: Linear Knob Control

I agree with you Arfur:

MULTI functionality would be great for me as well. I really like to have combinations of Single patches organized into MULTIs.

I'm personally fine about the non linear knobs.
As the Admin says - loads of VST instruments have knobs that behave that way.
