You have two main solutions to run Xplorer on a Mac:
1) Using an Intel based Mac, a dual boot (BootCamp) with Windows will run Xplorer without problems.
2) You can also use a virtualization technology such as:
- Parallels Desktop (http://www.parallels.com/products/desktop/)
- VMWare Fusion (http://www.vmware.com/products/fusion/overview.html),
- Oracle VM Virtual Box (https://www.virtualbox.org/) (this one is free),
more info here: http://www.itworld.com/virtualization/2 … virtualbox
All of them allow you to run any Windows application without rebooting your Mac.
CAUTION : Please verify that the virtualization technology supports MIDI and/or your MIDI interface. Xplorer is reported to work with Parallels (see this post: http://xplorer.programmer.free.fr/bb/vi … hp?id=104). but some problems are still unresolved with VmWare ( http://xplorer.programmer.free.fr/bb/vi … php?id=106 , http://xplorer.programmer.free.fr/bb/vi … hp?id=107).
(*) Virtual machines like:
- Oracle VM Virtual Box (https://www.virtualbox.org/),
- VMWare Player (http://www.vmware.com/products/player/overview.html),
- Microsoft Virtual PC or Virtual Server (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtua … fault.aspx)
- Parallels Desktop (http://www.parallels.com/products/desktop/)
- Other virtualization/emulation technologies (Xen, Bochs, Wine…) may work, but are all unsupported.
Windows®
Minimum:
- Windows XP SP3, Windows Vista or Windows 7 with latest service pack, 32 or 64 bits.
- Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 Client Profile (may be already installed on your operating system)
MIDI Interface
Minimum:
- MIDI compatible interface with at least one MIDI OUT port
Recommended:
- MIDI interface with one MIDI OUT and one MIDI IN, one Virtual MIDI cable driver (like LoopBe1 - http://www.nerds.de/en/loopbe1.html)
A compatibility problem has been reported with Emagic amt8 midi interfaces and is not yet resolved (see http://xplorer.programmer.free.fr/bb/vi … .php?id=48)
Synthesizer
- Oberheim Xpander or Matrix-12 synthesizer
